This hotel will pay guests back if it rains during their stay

This hotel will pay back to guests if it rains during a traveler’s stay. What is the reason?

Citing CNN, Wednesday (6/3/2024), Singapore has an average of 171 days of rain per year. However, a hotel in the Lion City is taking bold steps to ensure that the rain won’t ruin its guests’ holiday.

The “Rain Resist Bliss” package from InterContinental Singapore will reimburse guests for one night’s stay if one of their planned activities ends up being canceled due to rain.

“I was chatting with a group of friends about what’s next in luxury type travel and one of them jokingly commented that being able to guarantee good weather would be the next level of true luxury travel,” said the hotel’s general manager, Andreas Kraemer.

From there, the concept of a rain insurance package was born.

Rules get when it rains from the hotel

However, there are still warnings. InterContinental won’t hand out cash every time it rains. According to a release from the hotel, the criteria is if “rain duration exceeds 120 cumulative minutes in a 4-hour time block during the day.”

This package is also only valid for those staying in suite rooms, with prices starting from 850 SGD (Rp. 10 million) per night for junior suites and starting from 4,500 SGD for presidential suites.

Then, the money will be given in the form of a voucher, which must be spent at InterContinental Singapore within six months, and the amount you get is equivalent to one night’s stay in that room category.

Kraemer’s favorite things to do on a rainy day in Singapore are visiting the Asian Civilizations Museum, taking a tour of the Tiger Brewery, and shopping at the Japanese bookstore, Kinokuniya.

Special packages like these can be a way for established hotels to stand out.

In Bali, a hotel banned the use of smartphones and other electronics by the pool as a way to encourage guests to leave their phones behind and relax.

Meanwhile, several hotels and resorts around the world, including the Park Hyatt New York, have created special rooms designed for an optimal night’s sleep, complete with white noise machines, weighted blankets, and bedtime tea.
